El P is Back

El Presidente is back from his two week holiday in Russia today. He's always in a shitty mood when he gets back from holiday, and he's got more to be irritated by than usual this time. (But it wasn't my idea, honestly, Paul! And I did get to the bottom of my to-do list while you were away. Nearly.)

Anyway, to try and cheer him up, we've brought in a whole load of sugary stuff - doughnuts, chocolate, and biscuits. We are hoping to either put a smile on his face or kill him with hyperglycemia.

We are also attempting to get a accurate measure of The Flury, the SI unit of carbohydrate, being defined as the quantity of sugary crap that El Presidente is capable of consuming in a single day. We've tried measuring this before, but no single one of us can carry that much in at once, so Tracey and I are working in concert this time.

Update: What's left as at 2:30 and is it any co-incidence that El P decided upon putting his desk next to the microwave? (He turned his head away to avoid being recognised - but there's no mistaking that shirt, is there?)

It's all going well so far - he's got up to whole sentences now!

Well this entry certainly won't cheer him up as there is quite a strong chance his wife will be reading this....

Why? Did you send her a link?

Not that I'm putting ideas your way...

Be gentle with him - he's only firing on three cylinders as yet...

Nice to hear that El P is his usual sunny self upon return to the UK :-)

And, well, you'd need a forklift truck to carry enough bags of pure sugar to make sure he couldn't eat it all in a day.

All in a good cause huh?

Ne par'sia, Paul.

FYI, "ti" is "you" - and you can check out http://www.insultmonger.com/swearing/russian.htm for "poshol", if you can't guess. See what a lovely mood he's in? ;-)

Now boys and girls, I understand your childish amusement regarding El P's foul moods, there is nothing more pleasant in this life then trying to push him to a brink of suicide, step back and see what happens next - I always find it highly entertaining myself. But.... LAY off sugary food!!!!!!!!
I do not cherish the idea of getting him off the ceiling when he is suffering from sugar rush and then keeping him away from sharp objects and heights when his sugar levels have plummeted…

Paul… - that is it, you have pushed me over the edge with your lack of will power… I am getting the scales out tonight! The begging, kneeling, sobbing and further promises are pointless. The SCALES will be waiting for you when you get in. Big M&S lycra pants from underwear department for holding your stomach in and usual trick of breathing in might create an illusion, but they are NOT going to fool me…
If this is not humiliating enough, I will go further and sign you up for swimming lessons together with 7 year olds, because it is unlikely that you are able to keep up with anyone else. I will also take a photo of you, gloriously struggling with the waves of the local swimming pull, wearing your favorite all in one 30s styly “sophisticated” swim wear and post it on the web. I bet it will be popular site…I might even make money out of it.

Now you see why I want to remain single?

I may have to close comments on this entry to avoid anyone getting divorced.

Hi,

Feel free to say no - but I'd like to know which company you work for.

I'm about to finish a masters in comuter science and I really want to find a programming job using python (and ideally at a company that uses macs). That sounds pretty much like the place where you work!

Cheers,

Great blog

Sorry - we aren't hiring AFAIK, we use hardly any Python, and I've got the only Mac. Or, rather, will have, when the bloody thing turns up. ;-)

(I personally use Python a lot to Get Stuff Done, but our products (i.e. the software we sell) are all in RPG on the iSeries or Java these days. My Mac is intended to make sure that the Java stuff we write is as cross platform as we intend it to be, but I wouldn't expect a company wide rollout any time this decade.)
