The Ancient History of Shoes

Sturdy shoes first came into widespread use between 40,000 and 26,000 years ago, according to a US scientist.

OK, now, can someone explain why women need so many pairs?

It's good for your feet to wear different shoes every day. Well, maybe not every day... on a rotational basis, anyway.

The other day my mom and I were discussing why women love shoes so much. We couldn't even figure it out....but it's a fact of life.

Cool article, I can pick things up with my toes. Yes, even my pinky toe can pick things up.

anyway....yeah.

Now for the fun question. We've been tying shoes for 40,000 years despite having invented elastic and velcro recently. (by comparison) Why are we still using string to hold shoes to our feet? The only case of shoes getting popular that don't need tying is the case of the Dutch with wooden shoes. And they succumbed in modern times - and tie shoes.
