Someone brought in a box of Twinkies today, for some reason. I've never had the opportunity to try one of these American cultural icons before.
It was bloody horrible.
Posted to Apropos of nothing by Simon Brunning at January 17, 2005 01:35 PMYup - artificial & nasty. Sad, as my friend in the US sent them all that way to us...
Posted by: Tracey on January 17, 2005 01:56 PMWell, now we know, at least.
It was the slimey ersatz cream that did for me. I remember the stuff from British school dinners circa 1975, but I've not come across it since. I gather it includes beef fat! Yuck!
Not to worry. El Presidente will eat them.
Posted by: Simon Brunning on January 17, 2005 01:58 PMGet them to send Tootsie Rolls next time.
/me loves Tootsie Rolls.
Strange thing about twinkies: they actually become /less/ horribly if you deep fry them. Only in America...
