Before we rant about stupid Americans, it behoves us to remember that there are two Americas. Well, there are several - but there are two USAs.
The Urban Archipelago (via Ian Bicking) is a very interesting read. It seems that the US has a similar urban versus country folk thing going as we do.
Fuck the South (via Gimboland) is pure rant - but sublime rant.
Posted to The Big Room by Simon Brunning at November 16, 2004 02:48 PMWe have the same split in Canada. Myself being raised on a farm, and now a city-slicker, I see both sides of the issue. Of course, here we don't have a "Fuck the farmers" website, but there is a push to get more tax dollars in the hands of the cities.
It's bound to happen eventually; North America was once 80% rural, now its a dwindling segment.

And who'd have thought that bored London professionals would find the demographic and political arguments of the US so fascinating.
