iTunes 4.7

iTunes 4.7 is out. The minimise to system tray (or whatever) feature is very nice, but, ARRRRGH, now whenever I eject my iPod, it stops charging - so I can't listen to it and charge it at the same time.

And as for the iPod Photo, is it just me, or is this a rubbish idea?

If I could trnsfer direct from my camera to the iPod, then it'd be great (without clunky belkin addons). Otherwise it seems like a strange concept - I mean the belkin addons work with normal iPods.

This is paraphrased from a report I heard on Radio 4 last week. Can't find a link, sorry.
"Phone manufacturers are desperately trying to convince people to send photos over their networks so they can make some money out of them. Their recent research has found that people tend to use them more like portable photo albums, so they can carry a set of picture around with them and show people when they meet in meatspace."

If that is the case then the photo iPod is the logical extension of that.

Stupid idea.

Hmmm didn't know that "notification area" thing.

As for iTunes 4.7 - meh, is that it? Not a huge amount of new features but seems to take noticeably longer to load.

iPod Photo looks good to me, if for no other reason than it will display the cover art for the current track - like iTunes can do. It's the little things....

iPod Photo is a cool idea badly implemented. It needs to be able to read from a camera. Personally I think it either needs to have the option of a cable to plug into your camera (probably a separate purchase since they seem to differ between makes/models) or a built in card reader - but then I've always beleived I should be able to record DV direct to them (negating the need for tapes) plus they have always been in need of a handy moon on a stick =0)
