First Against The Wall When The Revolution Comes

I saw The Princess Diaries 2 with Freja this weekend.

Avoid.

Having said that, Freja loved it, as did most of the audience. So, let me be more specific. If you're female and between the ages of six and fourteen, or if you are Mark Matthews, you'll probably love it. Otherwise, avoid.

The royal brown-nosing was blatant. The Americans are obviously desperate for a royal family of their own own. Well, they can have ours.

What else was there? Oh yes, unfunny slapstick, suitable-for-pre-teen romance, and (oh, the horror!) Julie Andrews rapping.

Oh, and the product placement was shocking. Shocking.

Your devotion to my granddaughter is breathtaking! i followed the link and watched a bit of the trailer. Just after my lunch. A big mistake.

It has to be said, the first one wasn't anything like as bad as this. Not good, by any means, but not this bad.

But you can never tell what's going to be good. The Freaky Friday remake was actually pretty respectable. Who'd have guessed?

Freaky Friday would be a total loss too, except that half the sound track is brilliant, and Jamie Lee Curtis is scarily good at acting fifteen.

Oi! Brunners! I'll get you and your little doggie.
So my movie tastes are the same as your little-uns? You b@st@rd. Well at least it will be several years before I have to go and watch that kind of cr@p. Maybe I'll take a gameboy and some headphones in there.

And the Freaky Friday remake was good though - I watched it on the plane on the way back from Aus about a year ago, and it was worth a watch.
Mind you, I'm glad I'm at least a _bit_ in touch with my feminine side and don't have it totally in denial.

A bit?!?! A BIT ?!?!?!? Not that I'm complaining. It's good to have someone around the place I can rely on for hair and makeup tips.

To K:
Well, one of us has to be able to talk meaningfully about that stuff. Might as well be me on the girly hair stuff and makeup. And me on the geeky stuff. And me on fixing stuff round the house. And all the washing up.
What do you do again babe?
