Knoppix

I finally found some time to have a play with Knoppix, as recommended by Andy and Simon.

Is there a Nobel prize for software? If there were, Linus and Klaus Knopper should share one. The year after Guido's win, naturally. ;-)

My question is can you get it to boot into KDE properly? I can't and I don't know if its my hardware (Dell mostly) or I've managed to do something nasty when I downloaded and burnt the ISO.

Yup, works fine for me. I couldn't work out how to change the screen resolution, though...

OK, got that - see http://download.linuxtag.org/knoppix/knoppix-cheatcodes.txt

But I don't know how to make NTFS partitions writeable. Is this possible? If so, how?
