Python - just say NO!

Java Programmers Unite: Say NO To Python

Jokes apart, I don't think that increasing programmer productivity would increase unemployment, at least not in the long term. I think that part of the problem is that too many company boards have had their fingers burned by large IT projects delivering very poor ROIs. The more IT delivers value for money, the more people will be willing to spend.

At least, that's what I'd like to think. Perhaps we are all doomed.

You're such an optimist Simon. We are all doomed and the sooner you realize it the sooner you can select a new career. I suggest getting a degree in Business Management - there will never be enough managers.

Nah, get a career in Sales. Because then it's your job to stitch up both the client and the misguided techies with as many buzzwords as possible, a ludicruous solution to a problem that doesn't exist and schedule someone with a time machine would call 'ambitious'.

Not that I'm bitter you understand. No sir, not me.

Management always trumps sales. As an aside managers tend to make more money. A bad manager will probably make a lot more than a bad salesperson.

Blimey, where do I sign up for management ;-)

My experience working for a large software company would indicate otherwise. Unless you manage sales people of course, in which case its a definite double bubble scenario.
